Hepatica nobilis
Liverwort is one of the first wildflowers of Spring.
The flowers bloom, then usually die back before leaves fill out as in picture below.
Liverwort is rarely used in herbal medicine today.
It used to be thought to be a tonic for the liver based on the Doctrine of Signatures.
